Practice Areas In her private practice Dr. Adler sees children, adolescents, and adults. She is a Cognitive Behavior Therapist, as well as a psychodynamic psychotherapist. Dr. Adler also offers marriage counseling, parent guidance, and parent counseling.
School Neuropsychology Dr. Adler is Board Certified in School Neuropsychology and has extensive training in the neuropsychology of children, adolescents, and young adults and extensive training in testing and diagnosing school related difficulties.
Neuropsychological testing looks at different brain functions in relation to academics. Practically what this means is that it can help determine if there is a learning disability, ADHD, emotional deficit, spectrum disorders, non-verbal learning disabilities, or other disorders that affect children and young adults. Neuropsychological testing also helps delineate the difficulties a child/adolescent is having so that detailed remediation and treatment recommendations can be made for the family, the school, and the child. Testing also aids in educational planning and educational placement. Further, Dr. Adler tests to determine if accommodations are appropriate in connection with SATs, ACTs, GREs, LSATs, and MCATs and other standardized tests to help maximize a persons ability.
Dr. Adler also has considerable expertise in schools having worked in schools for more than 25 years. During that time Dr. Adler has been a School Psychologist, CSE Chairperson, involved in 504 Accommodation Plans, and taught the Child Abuse Identification course as well as spoken to many parent groups over the years on topics such as bullying, self esteem, and transition to middle school, to name a few.
